आरटीजीएस अर्थात रियल टाइम ग्रॉस सेटलमेंट प्रणाली में लेनदेन की कोई ऊपरी सीमा निर्धारित नहीं है। हालाँकि इसके लिए न्यूनतम राशि दो लाख रुपये तय की गई है, इसीलिए इसे बड़े मूल्य के भुगतान की प्रणाली कहा जाता है। इसमें प्रत्येक लेनदेन का निपटान तत्काल एवं एक-एक करके होता है, अर्थात इसे बैचों में एकत्र नहीं किया जाता। दिसंबर 2020 से यह सेवा चौबीसों घंटे तथा सातों दिन उपलब्ध है। इसकी तुलना में एनईएफटी में कोई न्यूनतम अथवा अधिकतम सीमा नहीं है और आईएमपीएस में सीमा पाँच लाख रुपये है।
