कुहासा अथवा कोहरा संघनन की प्रक्रिया के कारण बनता है। जब वायु में उपस्थित जलवाष्प ठंडी होकर द्रव अवस्था में बदलती है, तो वह धूल के सूक्ष्म कणों के चारों ओर जमकर अत्यंत छोटी जल बूँदों का रूप ले लेती है और यही बूँदें वायुमंडल की निचली परत में तैरती रहती हैं। इससे दृश्यता घट जाती है। यह प्रायः शीत ऋतु में प्रातःकाल होता है, जब धरातल के निकट की वायु ओसांक बिंदु तक ठंडी हो जाती है। बादल भी संघनन से ही बनते हैं, अंतर केवल इतना है कि वे अधिक ऊँचाई पर बनते हैं।
